Trellises, Arbors and Pergolas

Some of the beautiful structures you could add to your garden are trellises, arbors and pergolas. Any one of them can help provide vertical interest in your garden all year long.

So, how do these structures differ from one another then?

Trellises are frames or structures of latticework generally used as support for vines or climbing plants; they might also be an arch or gazebo or even a complete summerhouse comprised of latticework.

Arbors are usually referred to as shady resting places in parks or gardens; arbors often include wooden structures and/or latticework upon which vines or climbing plants are grown.

Pergolas are typically a structure or arbor made of columns spaced at regular intervals that support a roof of trellisworkover which climbing plants or vines are grown.

Otherwise, you might consider some of the ready-made items available on the market.... there's a beautiful structure to fit any size garden area.

Be sure to consider adding a trellis, arbor or pergola to your garden areas to enliven them and provide vertical interest all year round.
